Burger King Twitter Account HACKED by “McFan”

By on February 18, 2013

Nope, this picture isn’t photoshopped. The official twitter account of the fast food chain, Burger King, was taken over at around noon earlier today, initialized by a tweet that stated BK was bought out by rival company, McDonald’s:

“We just got sold to McDonalds! Look for McDonalds in a hood near you”

The take over included changing the account’s display name to “McDonald’s,” changing the profile pic to the iconic golden arches, and multiple links to ironic and demeaning pictures and videos, poking fun at BK. All this, paired with Burger King’s recent scandal 2 weeks ago in which traces of horse meat were found in burgers being sold in some European chains. It has yet to be determined who the actual hackers are, but many are speculating that it was merely a fan, not directly related to the company.

The King has definitely seen better days than the last few weeks, but it’ll interesting to see how BK will rebound after these incidents in the coming days.
